I want to believe that BUT – – –

I’m on the verge of retirement and these thoughts are creeping in!  Once my career ends I’ll have to face facts, accept these issues and make some hard choices.

  • I’m getting old!
  • My health has suffered and I won’t be able to get it back
  • I won’t have enough money to live like I want and do all the things I want
  • I’ll have to downsize my life to save money
  • I’ll lose my professional identity and won’t be useful anymore
  • I’ll be lonely without my work friends around me daily
Well guess what – it doesn’t have to be that way!

Here’s a brief story about my transition from my last job to being FREE! Once I left my job working in a regional medical center I was a physical and emotional wreck from all the corporate stress, being micro-managed and being assigned work that was not a fit for me. I ended up being a stress mess – referred to doctors, counselors, put on pain meds, strapped into wrist braces for carpal tunnel syndrome, and told I needed to stop exercising and learn to live with pain. I had hit an all-time low in my life and didn’t even recognize myself!

Fortunately, a wise nurse-coach guided me out of this funk and into a new path with a personal vision, confidence, energy, enthusiasm – and HOPE! Not only did it restore my faith in ME again, but it also moved me into living a healthier lifestyle.  I couldn’t believe the change in me after just 3 sessions with her.

What I discovered from this experience was that my health issues were only situational and temporary and I was able to regain what I had lost within 9 months of leaving that job. This is what happened:

  • My stress level went down because I started doing what my body wanted to relax
  • My pain went away because I was getting back into balance
  • I didn’t need pain meds or wrist braces anymore
  • I avoided that carpal tunnel surgery that the doctors wanted me to have
  • I had a lot more energy because I learned the power of healing thru nutritional support
  • I started sleeping well again without meds
  • I got back to Jazzercise (which I thrive on) and could exercise without pain
  • Now I feel like a Rock Star Retiree!
Nurses Put Themselves Last

What I know for sure from all my years as a wellness specialist is that nurses often put the needs of others first, above and beyond their own (a noble trait) but neglect their own health as a result.  I know this because in my career I shifted from bedside nursing where I fell into that trap –  into wellness and prevention where I saw the change in me.  Instead of coming home from my nursing job every day totally exhausted with aching feet and not wanting to do anything but lie on the couch and veg out, as a prevention specialist I was focused on helping people incorporate healthy strategies into their lives to keep them vibrant and well. And that spilled over into my choices and I started living a healthier life as well.

But guess what! When I offered wellness programs to employees I worked with, the nurses weren’t anywhere to be found.  They were too busy and dedicated to helping others get “fixed” to participate in their own wellbeing.  Does that resonate with you?

Getting old is not a pleasant thought

One more thing. Do you adhere to the thought that since you are getting older there is nothing left for you in this life?  We do live in a world where old people are often forgotten.  They fall thru the cracks of the healthcare system, they get ignored, they are under-valued and the largest population of the poor are older women.  Well I choose not to go down that path.  In my world I want more so I am creating my own path that leads to joy, optimal health and prosperity.

In the last 4 sessions we’ll put it all together into a sustainable plan by challenging you to:
  • Make better decisions based on what you want

  • Use your intuition as a guide
  • Discover creative ways to manage roadblocks that pop up and sabotage you

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have time for this?

Coaching takes very little time and fits into the nooks and crannies of your day. Phone calls are scheduled for 30 minutes every week or every other week with about 30-60 minutes on your own to work thru any simple practices that are assigned.  The initial call will take about 90 minutes as we get acquainted and start building the foundation for a successful coaching program for you.

Is it selfish of me to have a coach?

No. Many people have coaches for many reasons.  If your desire is to live a fulfilled life by being who you truly are, reaching your full potential and sharing your gifts with the world, then coaching can help with that.  Ask yourself how you are doing with this without any help?

Why should I spend money on coaching?

You can spend a lot of time and money getting lost is books, DVDs, online and in person trainings and still you don’t make the changes you want for a better life. It is my experience that coaching holds your feet to the fire and gets you moving in the direction that creates the most success for you.  Ask yourself – Do you want a better life and what are you willing to do to make that happen?  And here is the big question – do you value yourself enough to spend the money it takes to take care of yourself?
