 For some reason we never learned the concept of “food as medicine”. We were so focused on fixing symptoms with drugs and surgery that we totally missed the basic message that without proper nutrition our cells can’t provide us with all the energy we need to function and can lead to chronic disease. Still feeling that energy drain? You have probably run yourself into the ground from all those years as a high-performer in the healthcare system.

So why did this happen? Because pharmaceutical companies rule healthcare and there is no focus on what our bodies really need to stay healthy and energized. They would send trays of muffins and pots of coffee as a nutrition break for morning meetings, and would feed physicians at their daily noon conferences loads of pasta and rice dishes and dessert bars. No wonder the docs would be falling asleep halfway thru the conference. Yes we were “FED” a load of high- glycemic low-nutrient food for a lot of years. No wonder we felt sluggish and gained some extra pounds!
